In this Monday's NY Times there was a Front Page article titled ';The Missing Men'; and considered the growing number of male professionals age 35+ who are not working, at least not working full-time, anymore.
These are experienced, educated guys who've either lost or cashed-out on their previous, career-track jobs and are unwilling to simply take anything that ';comes along';. They've grown embittered with companies and even entire industries that, unlike the employers of our fathers, have shown no loyaliy to them as individuals.
They won't just rush back into the workforce, even if they could, because they have found--more or less--that they just can't smile at a$$holes all day anymore.
And these people aren't rich or made-for-life by golden parachutes. In many cases they're taking third and fourth mortgages, living on a spouses much smaller income or working freelance, here and there, only as they have to.
I could have been interviewed for that article. You? Mature only, please.
